What is Sintopia?

Sintopia TV logo.png

Sintopia (occasionally called Sintopia TV) is an American basic cable, satellite and pay television network owned by the Sintopia Kids & Family division of Blanding Cassatt Media Networks, the division itself a subsidiary of Blanding Cassatt. Founded, established and created fully by the duos Jordan Cassatt and Kimberly Blanding, it is aimed at children at ages 6—12 and teenagers at ages 13—17 and programs original, supported, acquired and IP cartoons, sitcoms and movies for ranging from action, animated comedy to live-action comedy. It mostly programs original created shows to inspire kids to be creative and teens to be talented, which inspired its slogan "Be Creative, Be Original".

As of 2022, Sintopia became the newest and most recent popular kids' network in the United States and has been expanded to Canada and other countries for Sintopia's international networks, which are called "Terratopias" (terra meaning earth; topia meaning city). It became one of the four popular kids-and-teens channels amongst Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network.

The channel has its weekday morning block called Sintopia Junior that programs little children's education school-supported shows for ages 2—5 from 6:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.. The channel also has an overnight block called Sintopia 101, which programs screensavers created by Blanding Cassatt's Kimberly Blanding and Jordan Cassatt from 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. on Mondays through Thursdays; 11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. on Fridays; and 1:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. on the weekends, all Eastern and Pacific Time in the United States.

Sintopia was originally launched on September 1, 2022 by Jordan Cassatt with a help from his spouse partner Kimberly Blanding, whom they launched Blanding Cassatt as a public media network company on the same day. Sintopia was founded back on April 12, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida with the other channels owned by Blanding Cassatt, while Blanding Cassatt was founded back on July 15, 2015 as a private company.

Sintopia has five sister channels including Sintopia Junior for smaller-aged preschooled children, Animatopia for action and animation programs, Comediotopia for live-action sitcoms, and Sintopia Music for vocal and instrumental musical material programming. Sintopia also has its own streaming service called Sintopia Play, operated by Blanding Cassatt Video On Demand, which streams all original programs broadcast by the network excluding supported and acquired shows.

As of January 1, 2023, Sintopia is available to approximately 10 million paid households in the U.S.A. and counting, even though it is a new channel.

The Amazing World of Gumball

The Amazing World of Gumball logo.png

The Amazing World of Gumball (simply known as Gumball and abbreviated to TAWOG) is a British-American animated television sitcom created by Ben Bocquelet for Cartoon Network. It premiered in the United States on May 3, 2011 and ended on June 24, 2019. The series concerns the lives of 12-year-old Gumball Watterson, an anthropomorphic blue cat, and adoptive goldfish brother Darwin, who attend a junior high school in the fictional city of Elmore, California. They often find themselves in various shenanigans around the city, during which they interact with fellow family members—younger sister Anais, mother Nicole, and father Richard—and an extended supporting cast of characters.

Bocquelet based several of the series' characters on rejected characters from his previous commercial work while making its premise a mixture of "family shows and school shows", which Cartoon Network was heavily interested in. After Bocquelet pitched The Amazing World of Gumball to the network, Turner Broadcasting executive Daniel Lennard green-lit the production of the series. The show was produced by Boulder Media (Ireland; season 1) and Studio Soi (Germany; seasons 26), in association with Cartoon Network Studios Europe.

Gumball is often noted for its intentional stylistic disunity, with characters designed, filmed, and animated using various styles and techniques, oftentimes within the same scene (stylized traditional animation, puppetry, CGI, stop motion, Flash animation, live-action, etc.). The series has received critical acclaim and since developed a cult following, with particular praises for its extensive references to popular and Internet culture, sarcasm, subtle innuendos, and dark humor. Although it is a children's series, Gumball also comments on topics that are often considered serious or mature, including philosophy, marriage, cyberbullying, political intolerance, mental illness, and the human condition.

On September 6, 2016, Bocquelet announced the series would end after season 6; he reaffirmed his position on Twitter in October 2018. However, Turner Northern Europe was unable to confirm the sixth season to be the show's last, which could make way for future episodes. Following the series' finale, two miniseries were released: the six-episode Darwin's Yearbook in November 2019 and The Gumball Chronicles in October 2020. On February 17, 2021, Cartoon Network revealed that a television film based on the series was in development. On September 21, 2021, it was announced that a new spin-off series, to be a follow-up for both the show and the movie, had been greenlit for Cartoon Network and HBO Max alongside the movie.
